Slepyshev could get some ice time on the top line with Connor McDavid, but in general, will likely find himself firmly cemented in a second-line role behind Ryan Strome. How the injury to Slepyshev affects his spot on the depth chart remains to be seen, yet it is unlikely he would drop from the top six. In the meantime, Jesse Puljujarvi figures to slide up to fill the gap.
