49ers at Redskins Fantasy Recap (Week 6, 2017)

The San Francisco 49ers have themselves a new quarterback.

C.J. Beathard might not have led the Niners to a win on Sunday against the Washington Redskins, but he was the only reason they had a shot to win it at the end of a 26-24 defeat.

The rookie from Iowa acquitted himself well in his first real NFL action, going 19-for-36 for 245 yards with a touchdown. He couldn't get the team in a position to kick the game-winning field goal, but for an unheralded mid-round draft choice that was looked upon as nothing but a project, this wasn't a disappointing start to his career.

Brian Hoyer was benched after going just 4-for-11 for 34 yards.

The Redskins were put in this position due to the fact that they weren't able to run the football effectively. Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine combined for just 56 yards on 25 carries, a paltry average of 2.24 yards per carry. Both men ironically beat their Projected Fantasy Points totals due to big receiving games, but this will only serve to inflate their PFP for future games. If Washington can't get better offensive line play in the running game, these backs will be amongst the men to stay away from going forward.

Troubling, too, was the play of Carlos Hyde. A week after effectively getting benched for Matt Breida in Indianapolis, Hyde only had 13 carries for 28 yards against the Redskins. Just like his cohorts in this game, Hyde beat his PFP due to a couple rushing touchdowns and a good showing in the passing game, but 2.2 yards per carry won't cut it going forward.
