With the season winding down, there are opportunities for some lesser-known players to step up and shine. There is a slew of wide receivers out there that will have the chance to shine in Week 16. These are the men we are targeting for our Dober Play Cards in the penultimate week of the NFL regular season.
Chester Rogers (4.49 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Ravens: 5.0
T.Y. Hilton is clearly the top banana in Indianapolis, but with Donte Moncrief out of the fold, someone else is going to have to step up and be the second receiver for the Colts.
Chester Rogers is the man likely to step into that role.
The Grambling product has only had one big game this year – six catches for 104 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers on November 12.
The Colts have played in some horrible conditions of late, first in Week 14 against Buffalo in a snowstorm, then in Denver on short rest in Week 15. We suspect the whole offense will be in for a better duel against the Ravens on Saturday. That should bode well for Rogers against a short Projected Fantasy Points total.
Cody Latimer (4.75 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Redskins: 4.0
Cody Latimer is seeing more and more snaps as the season wears on. With Emmanuel Sanders dinged up, Latimer could have a second straight really big game against the Redskins.
Latimer had three catches for 60 yards and a touchdown against the Colts last week. He won't need anywhere near that much in the way of production to beat such a low Projected Fantasy Points total.
Marqise Lee (8.56 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. 49ers: 5.5
Marqise Lee may or may not play this week, but if he does, we're getting a steal on Jacksonville's best healthy receiver. Dede Westbrook, Keelan Cole and Jaydon Mickens have been playing great football of late, but Lee is still the top dog in this offense with both Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson out.
Lee has had a few duds, but he beat this Projected Fantasy Points total in eight of his previous nine games before getting injured. There's no reason he shouldn't beat this number against the 49ers if he's on the field.
Trent Taylor (4.71 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Jaguars: 5.5
All of the wide receivers in the San Francisco offense have been bolstered by the addition of Jimmy Garoppolo. The 49ers have kicked 15 field goals over the course of the last three games, but they're bound to put it all together and put the ball in the end zone.
Taylor has built a good rapport with Jimmy G, catching 12 of his 14 targets over the course of the last three weeks. The Jaguars have two Pro Bowl corners, and that could be a deterrent, but Taylor doesn't need more than three or four receptions to get to this Projected Fantasy Points total.
Mack Hollins (2.33 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Raiders: 2.5
Mack Hollins isn't on the field all that often, but he might get some additional chances this week if the Eagles already have the No. 1 seed in the NFC locked up. This game against the Raiders isn't the end all, be all, and head coach Doug Pederson has already said that he wants to get some of his younger players some action at the end of the season.
Hollins is up against a low enough Projected Fantasy Points total that he could pick up a victory on Dober Play Cards with a single reception. This is a high-risk, high-reward play for sure but could end up looking easy by Christmas night.
