Redskins at Chiefs Fantasy Recap (Week 4, 2017)

By defeating the Washington Redskins in the final minute of the final game in Week 4, the Kansas City Chiefs remained the only undefeated team in the National Football League, but it wasn’t easy. 

The Chiefs largely trailed in most of the game, and it looked as if the Monday Night Football viewers would be treated to extra time after Washington booted a game-tying field goal with 50 seconds left in regulation. But a couple of key passes from Alex Smith moved the ball into field goal range and rookie Harrison Butker, who joined the team Tuesday, knocked down a 43-yarder to seal the win. 

The final score of 29-20 doesn’t reflect a three-point margin of victory as a desperation lateral attempt was scooped up by Justin Houston and returned 13 yards for a garbage touchdown. ESPN color guy Sean McDonough was quick to point out that the play, “may have been meaningful to some.”

But what was more meaningful in the eyes of Dober fantasy players was the significant injuries to the Redskins starting lineup. 

Josh Norman suffered a ribs injury that will sideline him for multiple weeks. Now, we don’t have defensive players in the equation at Dober, but the Washington defense will suffer mightily without Norman. And if it suffers, that could mean the team is playing from behind more often than not. And if that’s the case, then Kirk Cousins should be throwing the rock more often than not. 

“Fat” Rob Kelley injured his ankle in the first quarter Monday and never returned. Chris Thompson has already seen an uptick in his usage, but those touches should increase even more going forward. Samaje Perine could also see an exaggerated workload, and he might be a good buy-low guy in all Dober formats. 

The Big Three in K.C. all surpassed their Projected Fantasy Point totals. Alex Smith threw for 293 yards and a touchdown, Travis Kelce hauled in seven passes for 111 yards and the aforementioned touchdown while Kareem Hunt continues to defy all rookie expectations with another 100-yard performance on the ground. 

This is a potent Chiefs offense that can be undervalued at times in the Dober fantasy world.
