For Thursday Night Football, the Washington Redskins travel to Dallas to face their division rival, the Cowboys. In wrestling, this would be known as a “loser leaves town” match, given that both of these teams are 5-6, two games back in the Wild Card race. A loss here would extinguish the slim playoff hopes of either team.
It’s been a strange season for the Cowboys, who followed a 2-3 start with a 3-0 stretch. After Week 9, Ezekiel Elliott was suspended while Tyron Smith and Sean Lee were injured, and Dallas hasn’t looked anything close to competent since. They’ve been outscored 92-22 by the Falcons, Eagles and Chargers.
Washington has been better than its record in 2017. They have road wins over the Seahawks and Rams, but have otherwise been victimized by one of the most difficult schedules in the league. They’ve also had bad luck with injuries to key players on both sides of the ball, leaving Kirk Cousins to carry much of the load.
Washington Redskins Week 13 Projected Fantasy Points
Kirk Cousins: 17.5 PFP
Jamison Crowder: 10.0 PFP
Vernon Davis: 9.5 PFP
Samaje Perine: 8.5 PFP
Josh Doctson: 7.5 PFP
Nick Rose: 7.5 PFP
Ryan Grant: 7.0 PFP
Dallas Cowboys Week 13 Projected Fantasy Points
Dak Prescott: 16.5 PFP
Dez Bryant: 10.5 PFP
Jason Witten: 8.5 PFP
Dan Bailey: 7.5 PFP
Terrance Williams: 7.0 PFP
Cole Beasley: 6.5 PFP
Alfred Morris: 6.5 PFP
Start 'Em: Jamison Crowder (10.0 PFP)
Dober Fantasy Points Per Game: 8.66
Seven weeks into the season, fantasy players were filing a missing person’s report for Jamison Crowder. In that span, Crowder averaged just 27 yards per game and didn’t score a single touchdown. In the four games since, he’s caught 27 passes, averaged more than 108 yards per game and scored his first touchdown of the season.
On pace for a career-high 69 receptions, Crowder is due for positive regression in the touchdown department, especially with several Washington offensive players on the shelf. Look for Crowder to continue his hot streak in this matchup.
Sit 'Em: Vernon Davis (9.5 PFP)
Dober Fantasy Points Per Game: 6.65
Looking purely at the statistics, Vernon Davis looks like he did back in his prime. Replacing Jordan Reed, Davis is averaging the most yards and receptions per game since 2013 when he finished as one of the top tight ends in fantasy football. However, Davis has scored more than 9.5 DFP just twice in his last seven games, and he’s coming off a goose egg against the Giants last week.
Dallas has been mediocre defending the tight end, but at 33 years of age, it looks like Big Vern is slowing down late in the year. Combine that with the potential return of Jordan Reed for this game, and we recommend fading Davis at such a high PFP.
Start 'Em: Alfred Morris (6.5 PFP)
Dober Fantasy Points Per Game: 3.28
With how bad the Cowboys have looked on offense lately, it’s difficult to find any offensive player to feel good about. However, with the recent release of Darren McFadden, Alfred Morris has firmly established himself as the early-down running back for the Dallas offense.
Since Zeke was suspended, Morris has 38 touches for 193 yards, compared to 21 touches for 88 yards for Rod Smith. Morris has looked quick and powerful, reminiscent of his days with the Redskins. We’re targeting him at such a low PFP as he should have a big revenge game against his former squad.
Sit 'Em: Dez Bryant (10.5 PFP)
Dober Fantasy Points Per Game: 9.85
Maybe it’s time to adjust to the new “normal” with Dez. In his four healthy seasons with Tony Romo, Dez averaged nearly 77 yards per game and scored 50 touchdowns in 63 games. With Dak Prescott at quarterback, Dez has averaged 57 yards per game and has 12 touchdowns in 24 games.
Whatever the reason, Dez isn’t performing like he once did, and things have gotten worse of late. In his last five games, he’s averaged just 7.52 DFP per game without a single touchdown. Things will surely get better for the veteran wideout going forward, but it isn’t likely to start this week against rival Josh Norman.
