Lewis did acknowledge with regard to both Bernard and receiver John Ross (groin) that "you have to practice to play." At this stage, it seems unlikely that Bernard will be able to practice as anything more than a limited participant this week, so a second consecutive absence looks to be in order for the 26-year-old. That said, Bernard's MCL issue doesn't look to be a long-term concern, as the Bengals' decision to release fellow running back Thomas Rawls on Tuesday suggests the team may expect Bernard back in the near future. Assuming Bernard ends up sitting out Sunday, however, Joe Mixon would be in line for another full workload out of the backfield.
