The Pittsburgh Steelers probably never thought they were going to be in much of a fight in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears. Instead, they got all they could handle and then some in what turned out to be a 23-17 victory for the hosts.
The second overtime game of the young season went to the Bears when they marched 74 yards on just four plays on the first extra-time possession. Jordan Howard capped things off with his second touchdown of the day to affirm his spot as one of the top running backs for fantasy purposes this weekend.
The Bears’ formula was simple: Don’t let Mike Glennon lose the game. Glennon only attempted 22 passes, and he rarely let the ball fly down the field. He averaged just 4.6 yards per pass attempt and completed exactly one pass to an actual wide receiver, a nine-yarder to Deonte Thompson. Aside from that, it was 12 completions to running backs and two to tight ends.
The Steelers were who they normally are in this game, yet they didn’t have enough explosiveness to ultimately win. Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown combined for 16 of Ben Roethlisberger’s 22 completions. A total of just eight offensive plays were run to players not named Bell or Brown. Can you say two-dimensional?
