With the Cavaliers poised to sign Andrew Bogut once he clears waivers at 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, the team needed to preemptively open up a roster spot, and McRae was the chosen casualty. The Cavaliers had been looking to find a trade suitor for McRae for much of the season, but after failing to move him, the second-year guard can now be claimed by any team over the next two days before becoming a free agent. McRae, who averaged 4.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per game over 37 appearances with the Cavaliers this season, could generate interest from a club looking to add a developmental prospect to its backcourt.
