Torreyes was a clubhouse favorite, but the Yankees decided that his 40-man roster spot would be better utilized on another player. While the 26-year-old can play all around the infield and he has displayed good contact skills, there's just not enough thump in the bat for Torreyes to ever be more than a utility option.
