Josh Bell Fantasy News and Statistics

It’s not a great time to be a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Gone are Andrew McCutchen and Gerrit Cole. Starling Marte is coming off a PED suspension and Gregory Polanco had a down year. There’s little to be excited about in the Steel City these days, but Josh Bell is an exception. The rookie first baseman finished third in Rookie of the Year voting in 2017 after a very impressive freshman campaign. First base is a stacked position for offense, but Bell fared well in Dober Fantasy Points last year and could go up from there.

2017: Bell played 159 games in his first Major League season. That’s a lot to ask of a youngster, but Bell didn’t shy away from the challenge. A .255/.341/.466 slash line paints a picture of a solid first baseman while his 26 homers, 58 extra-base hits and 90 RBIs back that up. His season was clearly a step below that of the elite at the position like Joey Votto, Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Bellinger. But with 6.56 Dober Fantasy Points per game, Bell was still among the top half of the starting first basemen in the game, ranking right up there with Brandon Belt and Yonder Alonso.
